The match between two Pros, Huawei P30 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro. Who will win? We are about to find out who is the ultimate winner.
OnePlus entered the mobile market just a few years back and now reigns among the best. It challenges the pioneers in the market; the high-end Samsung Galaxy S10 and iPhone 8. Another phone maker reaping big enough to tickle the US is Huawei, the most successful Chinese brand. Huawei has the P30 Pro, while OnePlus, another Chinese brand, beats its chest with 7 Pro. Both phones were released to the market at almost the same time. OnePlus 7 Pro was announced in May while Huawei P30 Pro was made public in March. So, which is the most terrific Pro of the two? We are about to find out.
The first thing to strike your eyes when you pick the P30 Pro and 7 Pro is their size variation. 7 Pro is bigger than P30 Pro. In fact, 7 Pro is wider and taller than almost all the smartphones launched in the year.
Both OnePlus 7 Pro and Huawei P30 Pro have a glossy metal frame with a glass rear, but 7 Pro has more color choices. Huawei’s back has colors that blend into each other while OnePlus is stuck with a single color but with three color options.
The P30 Pro has a 6.47-inch display while its rival, the 7 Pro, has a 6.67-inch panel. The two phones coincidentally feature the same aspect ratio, and they also have curved displays. Huawei is more comfortable in hand. Here, it’s a draw.
When it comes to screen features, OnePlus has the upper hand. Huawei reduced the resolution to FHD+ while OnePlus decided to up their game to QHD+. For people who care about resolution, you can decide here.
Besides having a better resolution, OnePlus’ flagship has a 90Hz refresh rate. Even though it impacts less on the speed of your camera or phone, it boosts responsiveness. Users can get a better “feel” when framing a photo or video.
The Huawei P30 Pro is loved, just like OnePlus 7 Pro. For Huawei, the brand created an OS atop the Android Pie, EMUI. They have tried everything to make it manageable and stable to provide better user experience, but it's still clunky and messy at times.
Comes in OnePlus with OxygenOS overlay. It’s more effective than EMUI, which features excellent enhancements that provides a better experience without confusing a thing. It’s integrated gestures allow fast access to camera, flashlight, media controls, and other features.
Here is where you can find the real battle! Every device markets itself with its camera features. You can’t win in every match. Can you? In terms of camera, Huawei takes the award.
The OnePlus 7 Pro is equipped with a triple camera with 48MP main sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide, and an 8MP telephoto sensor. The pop-up 16MP front camera has an f/2.0. aperture.
The Huawei P30 Pro sports a Leica quad camera which consists of a 40MP wide-angle lens, a 20MP ultra-wide angle lens, and finally a 8MP telephoto lens and features a Time of Flight sensor. The results are candid photos and videos.
End results for both cameras are good, but the difference is the zooming. While OnePlus offers three times “optical” zoom, Huawei does five. P30 Pro is also capable of drawing in light and take impressive shots at night. Besides, its selfie camera is 32MP with f/2.0. aperture.
Both of the phones have large batteries. Huawei P30 Pro has a 42000mAh battery while its rival, the OnePlus 7 Pro carries a 4000mAh battery pack. Remember the screen size of both Pros. The bigger the screen, the more power it consumes.
If you unpack your phone from the box, the Huawei P30 Pro will serve you for longer than OnePlus 7 Pro. Not only because of the smaller screen size yet bigger battery feature but because EMUI’s battery optimization beats OxygenOS’s.
The P30 Pro is one of the best phones this year in terms of battery life if it’s not the best. When it comes to charging, both phones support fast wired charging, but Huawei is faster. It features a 40W charging while OnePlus 7 Pro features a 30W charging. Again, Huawei wins.
Both of the devices are packed with top-end chips, the P30 Pro running in Kirin 980 chip while OnePlus 7 Pro operates on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 witnessed in recent high-end phones.
As you expected, both devices are fast, but the newer Snapdragon 855 is faster, making OnePlus the winner in terms of performance. The only device with that kind of speed is iPhone XS Max, which is currently leading in performance.
Huawei may have the upper hand in the camera department, and the color changing feature is also unique. It also has a bigger battery, but OnePlus is more affordable than the rival.
Huawei P30 Pro sells at $899, if you can even buy it on the US, while you have to part with $699 for a OnePlus 7 Pro. Some might argue that Huawei doesn’t have the right to be too expensive, and they would rather go with OnePlus.
For a $200 difference, OnePlus camera is just okay. Besides, OnePlus beats Huawei in many more features. In fact, OnePlus should be more expensive than its current price. The question to ask yourself is, are Huawei features worth the two-hundred bucks?
From the comparison, it’s evident that OnePlus 7 Pro takes the belt. The device has more advantage overall but a bit cheaper. If you don’t love bigger phones, then Huawei might be your thing, but if you want a better experience and a bigger screen ration to body, OnePlus is the kind of device you should buy.
